Dogways Partners with Petco to Help Rescue Shelters and Dogs
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 25, 2015 -- Dogways, New York City dog owner's favorite app to socialize with their pups, has partnered with Petco Manhattan to launch #dogtags on the app, a unique way to highlight rescue dogs, the shelters they come from and the local pet businesses that support them.
Dogways #dogtags is a free program that provides shelters with a custom sign-up link that adds the #dogtag hashtag to a dog’s profile. #dogtags show on a dog’s profile at all times, helping solve one of a shelters greatest problems for its shelter residents - visibility.
Tagging on Dogways is an easy way to promote a dog's rescue organization, the dog as a member of that group and adoption in general. Every time a dog with a tag is shown on Dogways, that shelter and dog are highlighted, reaching thousands of users.
New pet parents have unique needs and #dogtags helps organize groups of like-minded owners on Dogways, providing support and socialization options to improve the chance of success and limit returns to a shelter.
The Petco partnership with Dogways involves all 5 of their Manhattan stores, some of the busiest in the USA, and includes in-store signage and promotion as well as inclusion with their numerous training, playgroups and educational seminars.
“Petco’s leadership and involvement in the community and rescue world is unparalleled; whether it be through their charitable arm, the Petco Foundation supporting shelters, or their in-store weekly adoption events, they are continuously promoting and supporting the local rescue community, which made this an ideal fit for the launch of #dogtags,” said Dogways CEO, Andy Simon.
With the Mayor’s Alliance and Petco Foundation’s Adoptapalooza around the corner in September, the launch is uniquely timed to help even more homeless animals find forever loving homes while promoting individual shelters and rescue organizations.
“Technology impacts everything we do; being able to utilize Dogways to help promote shelters and adoptions as well as socialization options for dog owners post-adoption is a win/win for all involved. We are very excited to be strategic partners in this endeavor,” said Tom Page, Petco District Manager.
