BridgeWave Communications, a market leader in wireless backhaul systems, today unveiled the BridgeWave Eagle (BW-Eagle), a 70/80GHz millimeter wave system delivering 3Gbps full-duplex data rates per terminal and the highest system gain available on the market. The BW-Eagle has been designed specifically for backhaul networks straining under the explosive growth of wireless data traffic from video, multimedia, and other data-intensive applications on smartphones and other mobile devices, while minimizing total cost of ownership.

Based on the highly successful E-Link radio platform, the BW-Eagle features a software-defined, proprietary digital modem technology enabling modulation schemes from BPSK to 64QAM, and data throughput upgradeable from 1Gbps to 2Gbps and 3Gbps via simple license keys. Operators seeking even higher capacities can realize 6Gbps full duplex throughput today using a 2+0 BW-Eagle link, thus eliminating the need for future equipment “forklift” upgrades and lowering total cost of ownership.

Each radio supports both POE and direct DC feed, and features carrier-grade Ethernet switch functionality, hitless adaptive rate modulation, and low power consumption in a zero footprint configuration.”

The BW-Eagle supports a broad range of network backhaul applications including 4G/LTE macro cellular backhaul; leased line and last mile fiber replacement; enterprise LAN/WAN networks; security networks for intrusion detection; and HD video surveillance for airports, ports, and borders.

The BW-Eagle is the latest addition to the BridgeWave family of backhaul solutions including licensed 6-38GHz microwave systems (Etherflex and FlexPort µWave); license-free 60GHz millimeter wave systems (AR60 and BW64); and lightly-licensed 80GHz millimeter wave systems (Flex4G-UHA and FlexPort80). These systems have been designed specifically to meet the gigabit backhaul needs of carriers, enterprises, and ISP customer networks worldwide.
