MSI Credit Solutions Warns of Recent Consumer Scam

Victims of the scam say they are receiving calls and emails from the scammers, who claim to be with agencies such as the FBI, law firms, or state attorneys to make it sound legitimate. They tell the consumer they have a delinquent account and request immediate payment while threatening legal action.
The scam artists will call consumers at home, on their cell, or even at work. However, some consumers will only receive email contact attempts from non-business accounts such as AOL, Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail. If consumers request more information about the loan, they are threatened with arrests, legal actions, wage garnishments, and in some cases, even physical violence. Consumers who have fallen victim to this scam are advised by the scammers to either send an email or fax with detailed payment information.
For those who receive such a call or email regarding these loans, do not provide any bank account information. Be sure to monitor the personal bank and credit card account activity for anything unauthorized or suspicious. If any is found, immediately contact the respective banks to have the cards and accounts canceled, as well as the three major credit bureaus to have a security alert placed on the credit report. Victims of this scam may also file complaints with both the Federal Trade Commission and their respective state Attorney General’s Office.
