Phoenix and SessionM's mobile insights platform, mXP (mobile experience), reveals data on consumers’ intent on making a switch to iOS upon the release of the iPhone6S/7. The data shows that 12% of Android users are considering making the switch, which could potentially be a significant opportunity for Apple to increase its user base. More than 39,000 on-the-go consumers responded to this one question micro-study that ran for 24 hours on August 11, which was comprised of 42% Android users and 58% iOS users.
This micro-study consisted of one question — Are you planning on buying the new iPhone this fall? — which was sent across a network of 12 million+ mobile device users that are loyal users of the mXP platform. We reach out to individuals daily to gauge their reactions to and opinions of various topics of the day. In a matter of hours we're able to collect tens of thousands of responses. We're able to segment the data as we choose, in order to test theories or glean insights from one demographic versus another. In advance of the new iPhone launch, we wanted to gauge the interest of a wide sample of people on their probability of trading up from older generation iPhones or switching from Android devices.
