Market Research Event in Boston, MA on September 30th, 2015, about Behavioral Economics Perspectives
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) August 27, 2015 -- TRC Market Research, a Philadelphia-based market research firm, specializing in new product research and conjoint analysis, announced today their upcoming market research event in Boston, MA on September 30th, 2015 from 3pm to 6pm.
The event will feature a guest speaker Shane Frederick, who is a Yale’s professor of marketing and a leader in the current field of Behavioral Economics research. His work focuses on preference elicitation, framing effects, choice over time and decision-making under uncertainty. Shane is a long time research partner of Nobel Prize winner and godfather of Behavioral Economics, Daniel Kahneman. Shane’s research contribution is prominently featured in Kahneman’s bestseller Thinking, Fast & Slow.
The speaker will discuss the foundational theme of the book revolving around System 1 (Fast) and System 2 (Slow) thinking and how their interplay affects consumer and human behavior. He will summarize the processes that govern the workings of the “intuitive mind” and discuss how intuitive impressions can dominate subsequent judgments and decisions – even in the minority of cases in which people have the disposition and motivation to reflect upon those intuitions. Frederick will discuss two complementary concepts from this “dual system” perspective: (1) the idea of “framing effects (that decision-makers are incredibly suggestible as to which subset of relevant information they focus upon) and that this entails a need to carefully consider which frames we adopt and which frames we impose and (2) the notion of “attribute substitutions” (that judgments are often based on the most salient cues rather than the most relevant cues).
The presentation will be held in Boston’s Museum of Science and it will be followed by questions and answers. This is a private event with limited space. RSVPing to Lenka Kolar is required in order to attend the event.
