Alexian Village of Milwaukee Hosts Its Fifth Annual Resident Ride
Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) August 25, 2015 -- It was a “black and orange” day at Alexian Village of Milwaukee when residents, 75 to 102 years old hopped on one of the fifteen Harley bikes for a fun ride around Alexian Village’s campus. Donned in Harley colors and borrowed leather jackets, the Alexian residents beamed with smiles after their ten minute ride around the campus. “I take a ride every year and just love the sensation,” said a 82 year old resident. “This is my only chance to become a ‘Harley girl,’ said an 87 year old resident. “I always wanted to own one but my husband always said ‘no,’” said a 92 year old resident. Some residents hop in the passenger seat by themselves and others need a little encouragement. A nursing home resident hasn’t missed a ride but his year it was trickier because of his medical condition but with the help of two residents and two paramedics, he was wrapped in a blanket and lifted into the side car. He claimed his fifth ride was the best of all. Once inside the residents were all set for the roaring sounds of their big Harley bike ride.
An ambulance is on hand…just in case, but hasn’t been needed. This year’s event was Tuesday, August 11 and included brats and burgers. Even fake tattoos were provided to complete that Harley look.
This is truly a visual, fun event for those participating and those who just enjoy the noisy production.
