John Cleese Joins Filmmakers for Controversial New Documentary about Cultural Revolutions and Astrology
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) August 26, 2015 -- John Cleese, renowned Monty Python actor and comedian, will narrate a new documentary which poses some big questions to the world: Does consciousness extend beyond the human mind? Is there a hidden relationship between human affairs and planetary movements? How do we know what we know, or think we know? The film is currently in production, and the team is launching a Kickstarter campaign on September 16th. The film is planned for release in late 2017.
The inspiration behind the film is the breakthrough book, Cosmos and Psyche, written by acclaimed scholar and author, Richard Tarnas. Cleese had long wanted to work with Tarnas, his friend and colleague of many years. Cleese also joins Producer and Writer Kenny Ausubel, an award-winning filmmaker, writer and social entrepreneur who co-founded the globally renowned Bioneers Conference, who originated the project after being similarly inspired by Tarnas’ body of work. Says Ausubel, “What we're living through is a period of breakdown and breakthrough, of revolutionary transformation where the old paradigm is dying and a new one is being born. As Tarnas says, ‘World Views Create Worlds.’ “
Directing the film is Louie Schwartzberg, an award-winning director and cinematographer (Mysteries of the Unseen World and Wings of Life) who joined the team to continue his artistic mission of “telling stories that celebrate life and reveal the mysteries and wisdom of nature, people and places.”
The film traces how moments of revolutionary transformation in human history appear to parallel the movements of specific planets. It follows the compelling trail of evidence of these planetary movements that seem to predictably manifest specific trends and social movements including: a radical rethinking of humanity’s relationship to nature and the cosmos, democratic political and cultural revolutions, and breakthroughs in technology, feminism, gender rights, and paradigms. It’s a mystery story about the great mystery of consciousness itself. And, if it’s true, it upends the reductionist paradigm of linear cause and effect.
Cleese, as narrator, approaches the topic as a principal investigator and skeptic, inviting viewers to make up their own minds: “Once you get into a…the paradigm where you say that anything that can't be measured can't really exist, then you're in trouble. I think that Max Plank got it right when he said that the thing that most hastens the change from one paradigm to another was funerals.”
In addition to Cleese the film will feature interviews with Eve Ensler, Paul Hawken, John A. Powell, Chief Oren Lyons, and others. http://www.changingofthegods.com/team/
