Olea Networks Provides Connectivity for Disaster Preparedness Exercises at Southern Exposure 2015
Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 27, 2015 -- Today Olea Networks is excited to announce a successful campaign at the annual Southern Exposure nuclear disaster preparedness event hosted this July in South Carolina. Olea Networks provided onsite connectivity for Salamander’s intelligent accountability solution, which uses RFID tagging to track first responders and emergency workers in emergency management situations. By employing an Olea Networks solution, Salamander and their partner Bridgeway Solutions were able to track approximately 1,000 people during the weeklong event.
Olea Networks, an industry leader in Edge computing and communications, participated in Southern Exposure 2015 (SE15) at the invitation of Bridgeway Solutions and Salamander Technologies. Salamander, a Cloud-based emergency response management solution, provides comprehensive situational awareness using barcoded, QR-coded, or RFID tags to track first responders, evacuees, volunteers, equipment and other on-scene resources in real-time. The solution also allows comprehensive, down-to-the-second reporting, which can optimize local and federal resource allocation.
However, without constant and consistent communication, the value and benefits of the Salamander solution cannot be fully realized. With Olea Networks providing constant communications and connectivity, Salamander and Bridgeway Solutions were able to provide accountability and tracking in real time during the event.
Adam Fray, Sales Director at Salamander, best summarizes Olea Networks’ success. He said, “Thanks to the communication capabilities provided by Olea Networks, we were able to fully utilize the Salamander accountability solution to identify and track nearly 1,000 participants at Southern Exposure 2015. Throughout the four-day event, the Olea system provided a stable communication network, and even after a complete loss of power, Olea’s network was restored almost immediately, keeping all accountability data completely accurate in real-time.”
Olea Networks provided Bridgeway Solutions and Salamander with continuous connectivity amidst the high pressure, real-time nature of the event. According to David Lee, Director of Operations for Bridgeway Solutions, Olea Network’s “gear worked flawlessly. Previously, at many of the other large exercises with a heavy mix of communications gear, we’ve lost Internet connectivity. However, this time we stayed connected for the event’s duration.”
Olea Networks gateway-routers are ideal for many disaster recovery scenarios. Highly ruggedized and available in battery- or solar-powered variations, they are instantly deployable in mission critical situations. With blanket coverage throughout North America via public and private LTE and satellite providers, Olea Networks keeps responders connected no matter where the crisis is.
