Constructech Magazine Honors the 2015 Women in Construction
Carol Stream, Ill., (PRWEB) August 28, 2015 -- Construction is quickly discovering that women provide a new set of talents, communication skills, and abilities to tackle challenges that offer a unique view and vision to the industry. Still, women make up a very small percentage of the construction workforce—8.9% in 2014 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Even fewer of these women are involved in technology initiatives.
During the past several years women have more than proven they can be a catalyst for driving change in construction—which is why Constructech magazine is pleased to announce the first annual Women in Construction awards.
The list of Women in Construction encompasses some of the most influential women in the space, representing a variety of companies from big to small, and were honored on Thursday at a dinner following the Technology Day event.
“The Women in Construction demonstrate exemplary leadership and have accelerated the growth of technology, while inspiring others within construction,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Constructech magazine. “Each woman embodies passion, tenacity, and grace even under the toughest of circumstances, which ultimately has empowered them to take risks and challenge the status quo.”
The 2015 Women in Construction have been chosen based on their involvement with technology within the construction industry, contribution to helping their company grow and progress via the use of cutting-edge solutions, is influential in the growth of technology within the overall construction industry, and inspires other women in industry, technology, or her local community.
