NU Hotel Announces September Art Exhibition
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) August 26, 2015 -- NU Hotel, a member of the Independent Collection – a growing collection of cultivated and intimate lifestyle hotels – has just unveiled its fall artwork exhibition, the latest in the hotel’s rotating artwork series. The exhibit showcases local Brooklyn artist Suzy Kopf’s most recent works, ‘It Doesn’t Get Better, It Just Gets Different,’ which explores the dynamics between sameness and uniqueness in America – the paradox between the beautiful and the banal, and how this is expressed in American culture.
With its quarterly rotating art series, NU Hotel prides itself as one of Brooklyn’s most art-friendly hotels, partnering with local and regional artists to showcase their works via lobby exhibitions as well as through its NU Perspectives program, in which local artists are given license to paint floor-to-ceiling murals on the walls of select guestrooms.
“Art has always been integral to NU Hotel’s identity and story,” said Gary DeSoiza, area general manager of NU Hotel Brooklyn. “We’re proud to add Suzy Kopf to the roster of talented artists that we’ve showcased at NU Hotel. Her work is really thought-provoking and gives guests something to think about over breakfast. We are always looking for work that will engage our guests and provide them with a greater connection to our community.”
Originally from San Francisco, California, Kopf splits her time between Baltimore, Maryland and Brooklyn, NY. She has a BFA in Fine Arts from Parsons The New School for Design and is currently working on her MFA in Studio Art at Maryland Institute College of Art, which she will complete in 2016. She is the recipient of several residency fellowships and grants including most recently, VCCA in Amherst, VA and the Design History Society in London, England."
To celebrate the exhibition, a reception is being held on September 3, from 6 – 9PM. Guests and media are invited to meet the artist, sip on complimentary wine, enjoy delectable hors d’oeuvres and swing to live music. The exhibition will be displayed in the hotel lobby until the end of September.
Admission is open to the public, but RSVP is required. Attendees should RSVP to info(at)nuhotelbrooklyn(dot)com or call 718.852.8585.
