The Clark Law Office recently announced the winner of their 2nd annual legal scholarship. The $1000 Clark Scholarship went to Donovan Sowder.

“My aspirations, as trite as they may seem, are to leave the world a better place and to increase the quality of life for those around me."

The Clark Law Office, a leading personal injury law firm in Michigan, recently announced the winner of their second annual legal scholarship. The winner of the 2015 scholarship went to Donovan Sowder who will be attending Vanderbilt University Law School.

The Clark Law Office announced they would be running this newly formed scholarship annually at the end of last year’s award because of its success. The law firm understands the high financial stress that law school creates and wants to relieve some of the heavy burden. Participants were asked to write an essay answering the following question: “What are your current hopes for your career after completing law school?” The judging criteria were based on the applicant’s overall academic performance, as well as the 600-1200 word essay.

This year the firm received many more applicants than the previous year and reaffirms our decision to run the scholarship. There is obviously a need for financial help given the high tuition prices of many law schools. The Clark Law Office was very impressed with the quality of the writing and academic performance of all the entrants. While many were outstanding, the entry from Donovan Sowder really caught our attention. Donovan clearly indicated his desire to improve his local community and use his ability as an attorney to improve the lives of neighbors and others. “My aspirations, as trite as they may seem, are to leave the world a better place and to increase the quality of life for those around me. I will accomplish both of these objectives through practicing law as a litigation attorney while being an active participant in government and politics. I knew from a young age that I wanted to become an attorney so that I could litigate legal disputes. I plan to use my time at Vanderbilt University to increase my knowledge of the law while sharpening my litigation skills.”

The Clark Law Office is offering the scholarship again in 2016. Those applicants who previously entered the contest are invited to enter it again. The deadline for the 2016 Scholarship will be July 15, 2016. The winner will be announced on August 15, 2016.
