Stanley Consultants Opens Energy Office in Atlanta
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) August 28, 2015 -- Stanley Consultants has expanded its presence in the Southeastern U.S. by opening an office in Atlanta, Georgia. Located in north Atlanta at 1200 Abernathy Road, the new office will work primarily with power delivery, power generation and facilities clients, providing an array of planning, engineering, and construction services. Stanley Consultants is a global consulting engineering firm with offices located worldwide.
Project Principal Terry Blalock, P.E., is the office’s operations manager and client liaison, providing contract administration, project coordination, and new business development. He has 30 years of experience in the energy industry.
“We are very excited about expanding our current footprint in the Southeast energy market by launching the Atlanta office,” said Blalock. “The location is ideally situated to support our utility clients and EPC partners, as well as new utility and potential institutional facilities clients, with power delivery and power generation engineering services."
The new office provides a local presence to area clients plus access to the firm’s full spectrum of services. Other offices serving the Southeast region are located in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Miami and Sarasota.
The firm has a well-established Southeast client base and is currently providing services for multiple area projects including engineering and design of a 60 MW reciprocating engine power plant, multiple transmission lines and substations, distribution circuit upgrades, and power plant air quality control system retrofits. The firm is also currently performing coordination and relay studies, integration studies for distributed generation into the utility grid, and combined heat and power evaluation and studies for local clients.
“With more than 1,100 employees worldwide, Stanley Consultants continues to grow organically with the addition of the Atlanta office,” said Blalock. “The office is currently staffed with employees who have relocated from our other energy offices. Now we are focusing on growing our Atlanta staff by adding experienced local engineers.”
Stanley Consultants maintains over 30 offices worldwide and is among the country’s largest engineering firms, ranking 66th in the Top 500 Engineering Firms list, which is published annually by Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine, a national publication covering the engineering and construction industry.
Established in 1913, Stanley Consultants is a pioneer in the power industry, literally “growing up” designing transmission, distribution, and generation projects. In the ’30s the firm worked closely with the Rural Electrification Administration (REA) now the Rural Utilities Service, designing and managing construction of dozens of electric cooperatives that first brought electricity to rural America. After World War II, the firm provided study, planning and design services for diesel plants, steam generating plants, transmission and distribution lines, and substations to cooperatives throughout the United States. Over the years the firm has designed every size plant, from a small rate study to a multi-megawatt power plant.
Today the firm is known as a “powerhouse” in the power industry, ranked by ENR magazine as 11th in the Top 25 Designers for Transmission and Distribution; 23rd in the top 50 Design Firms in Power; and 12th in Fossil Fuel Design.
