ENER-G Switch2 opens new London office to support growing district heating sector
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 28 August 2015 -- Communal energy metering and billing specialist ENER-G Switch2 has celebrated its 35th anniversary by opening a central London office to support steep growth of community and district heating in the capital.
The new Fitzroy Square office is home to the company's sales, key accounts and engineering teams, who will serve both existing and new customers. The company will be recruiting more engineers and project managers over the coming months.
The Mayor of London is committed to delivering 25% of London's energy supply by decentralised energy by 2025. It is estimated that more than 100,000 London homes are currently supplied by district heating and government figures suggest that this could rise to eight million by 2030.
Kirsty Lambert, Director of ENER-G Switch2 said: "Over the past 35 years we have provided metering, billing and prepayment services to more than 50,000 homes across 400 community and district heating schemes, including many projects in London. Our new city centre base enables us to offer local support to councils, housing associations and private landlords in developing and operating growing numbers of heat networks."
She continued: "The new Heat Network Metering & Billing Regulations place new obligations on heat suppliers. Our local team will advise landlords and developers on how to comply with legislation and move to provide a transparent fairer payment system based on accurate and regular meter reads.
ENER-G Switch2 recently installed its 10,000th G6 pay-as-you-go energy units at Notting Hill Housing's new Camberwell Fields development in south east London. This award winning technology is transforming energy prepayment. It has attracted strong interest from heat suppliers in London's social housing sector, who are eager to provide residents with a fair and convenient system of energy payment while minimising their own debt risk.
ENER-G Switch2's national headquarters will remain in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, which is home to its national customer service and billing centre, warehousing and production facilities. The company employs 130 people across the UK.
