Professional Physical Therapy Acquires Three New Practices, Continuing on Path of Rapid Growth

Professional is able to provide enhanced convenience options for all patients, allowing them to now be able to modify their treatment locations selecting the office that is most easily accessible for their individual appointment needs.

Professional Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy (“Professional”), a Great Point Partners I, L.P. portfolio company, has acquired Bi-County Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation, Flynn Physical Therapy and S.M.A.R.T. Physical Therapy, continuing its rapid growth on Long Island in an effort to provide the most convenience and highest quality care to its patients. With these three acquisitions, Professional adds six locations in the Long Island/Queens area, now totaling 63 facilities throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

This expansion of Professional’s geographic footprint, along with its electronic recordkeeping capabilities, will provide enhanced convenience options for all patients, allowing them to now be able to modify their treatment locations selecting the office that is most easily accessible for their individual appointment needs. “It’s amazing that we are able to add three additional high caliber clinically-based companies right on the heels of our acquisition of Premier Physical Therapy,” stated Tim Mauro, Professional’s Partner and Regional VP of Clinical Operations on Long Island. I’m looking forward to overseeing this benefit to our patients at our newest clinics in New Hyde Park, Williston Park, Port Jefferson Station, Longwood/Coram and Wading River!”

When approached about these latest acquisitions, Adam Elberg, Professional’s Founding Partner, President & CEO, expressed how pleased he is to have such exceptional Physical Therapists included in the Professional family. Similarly, the five owners/partners of the newly acquired companies shared his sentiment, acknowledging that this is a great moment in the advancement of their physical therapy practices.

Here’s more on what each partner had to say:

“Professional’s in-house continuing education programs enhance the knowledge and skills of its clinicians, keeping them up-to-date on current practices and the latest advancements in Physical Therapy, which prepares them to continuously deliver the highest standard of care to their patients. This is one of the many reasons my partners, Erik Gorelik and Glen Rowell, and I are so excited to have joined forces with Professional.”
-James Macaluso, owner of Bi-County Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation

“Professional’s Sports Medicine group is the largest in the NY metropolitan area, and they understand how to provide the highest quality athletic training services to athletes, coaches, and our local schools. I’m so excited to be able to further expand that knowledge into Suffolk county!”
-Rich Flynn, owner of Flynn Physical Therapy

“From knowing Adam for many years, I have always admired his integrity and business acumen, as well as his devotion to putting the patients’ needs first. This made it an easy decision for me to partner with Professional”.
-Frank Kershis, owner of S.M.A.R.T. Physical Therapy

Professional is proud to continue to exhibit its ability to execute on its strategic plan of successful growth, not only provided by exceptional clinical and administrative staff, but all the while maintaining the highest quality of care to its patients.
