Robins & Morton celebrates topping out at Nicklaus Children's Hospital
Miami, FL (PRWEB) August 31, 2015 -- Construction Manager Robins & Morton celebrated the topping out of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion on August 26.
Hospital leaders, patients, donors, employees, community members and the facility’s construction and design teams attended the afternoon ceremony hosted at the project site. Prior to the event, the hospital’s employees were invited to sign the final structural beam before it was hoisted into place – a gesture marking the completion of the structure’s exterior. Each signature symbolizes support and contributions to the organization and project.
This six-story pavilion will allow the hospital to relocate the existing cardiac intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric intensive care unit into a new, 200,000-square-foot facility. The pavilion is slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2016.
"Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is proud to share with its design and construction partners in the attainment of this key milestone in the construction of this important facility. While our new building has reached its zenith in physical stature, it will soon begin to deliver on the promise of enhanced care and comfort for our patients and their families,” Bob Koller, Interim Vice President of Construction at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, said. “We, too, have much to celebrate in this present accomplishment and the Nicklaus Children’s family is deeply indebted to many people and organizations. Of note, are our architects, Perkins + Will, and their associated design engineers, our project managers from the Hammes Company and our construction manager, Robins & Morton. All have performed spectacularly, and we have no further to look than our new building to find ample evidence of that fact."
