Confluent Health Named 2015 Partner in Philanthropy
Louisville, KY (PRWEB) August 31, 2015 -- Confluent Health, a Louisville-based private equity company, was named a 2015 “Partner in Philanthropy” by Business First of Louisville, placing top ten in the Small Company division and marking the third year they’ve received the award. The recognition comes in response to the company’s work in Jacmel, Haiti, where they founded a therapy clinic after a 2010 earthquake devastated the country.
The Jacmel rehab clinic was founded as a way to help the innumerable Haitian citizens who suffered serious injuries in the earthquake. Since opening in 2010, the clinic has provided free physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to over 25,000 Haitians, and is now operated by a full-time Haitian staff. To support these staff members, many US physical therapy clinics generously contribute funds and a steady stream of volunteers. The recent implementation of telemedicine, which allows for real-time case reviews to be completed via electronic communication, has also been a tremendous addition to the clinic.
“After the earthquake in 2010, my first instinct was to look for a way that we could utilize our physical and occupational therapy connections to make a direct impact on recovery efforts in Haiti,” said Dr. Larry Benz, PT, DPT, OCS, MBA, President and CEO of Confluent Health, and co-founder of the Jacmel rehab clinic. “I’ve traveled to Haiti a number of times and been able to witness firsthand the void that the clinic has filled over the last five years. We look forward to continued years of service in Haiti as we work alongside our Haitian brethren to rebuild and better the country.”
Confluent Health’s work in Haiti only continues to grow. Through a partnership with the Neighborhood Engagement Foundation and the Christian Coalition for Haiti and support from the Confluent Health family of clinics, the company has sustained the Jacmel clinic as well as expanded Confluent Health’s philanthropic interest in Haiti to include a children’s home that provides housing and care for 22 Haitian children. The company hopes that their continued dedication to the country allows them to expand their presence even further.
The Business First Partners in Philanthropy award was presented to Confluent Health August 25, 2015 at a luncheon recognizing the honorees. In addition to their work with the Jacmel Rehab Clinic, Confluent Health employees volunteer with HelpingPTs.org, SoaringWords, Family Scholar House, ChooseWell, and Junior League of Louisville.
