Allagash Brewing Co. Marks 20 Years with 'Fluxus' Beer Event at Congregation Ale House, Pasadena
Portland, ME (PRWEB) September 01, 2015 -- Allagash Brewing Co. has teamed up with Congregation Ale House in Pasadena, to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special ‘Fluxus’ brew event on September 15, 2015, beginning at 5 pm. The Maine-based brewing company’s annual ‘Fluxus’ release will be available on tap, with $1 from each 8 oz. glass served being donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Pasadena. Congregation Ale House will match the total donation amount raised by Fluxus sales during the event.
Since 2007, Fluxus has been brewed every year to commemorate the anniversary of the company’s first beer sold in July 1995, and $1 from every bottle of Fluxus beer sold has been donated to a scholarship fund for pediatric nurses at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center. To date, Allagash has raised more than $160,000 for the hospital and donated more than $840,000 over that same period to local Maine charities.
Rob Tod, founder of Allagash Brewing Co., who will be at the event to meet with guests, says: “The greater Los Angeles area welcomed Allagash with open arms since our earliest days as a brewery. Giving back to the communities that have supported us from our early days has always been an important value for us at Allagash, and I’m honored that we’re able to grow our tradition of helping pediatric care with our annual Fluxus release to include Southern California.”
The name Fluxus is Latin for continuous change, and every year Fluxus is brewed with a different recipe. This year's Fluxus is Strong Golden Ale brewed with a simple malt bill of Pilsner malt and - for the first time ever at Allagash - a large portion of maple syrup added to the kettle. The beer features aromas of strawberry, pineapple and lime, while the finish is balanced with a dry malty character.
After fermentation with a Belgian-style yeast strain, it is dry hopped with #06277 and #06297, two experimental hops that Rob discovered while selecting hops from the 2014 harvest the Yakima Valley region of Washington State. “I fell in love with those strawberry and lime aromas,” said Tod.
