ECPI University Launches Master of Science in Cybersecurity Degree Program
Newport News, VA (PRWEB) September 02, 2015 -- ECPI University’s College of Technology is now offering a Master of Science in Cybersecurity degree program. Available at the Newport News campus, prospective students can choose to concentrate in either Cyber Operations or Cybersecurity Policy.
“In fast moving and advanced networking environments, cyber security cognizance is paramount and often critical to the survivability of a business,” says Dr. Thomas Trevethan, ECPI University Dean of Curriculum for Network Security. “Having the operational capability and policy-based decision making skills required to manage vital infrastructure is essential in order to protect organizational networks while seamlessly maintaining business continuity.”
ECPI University’s program is based primarily on the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security program requirements for designation as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense.
Students will be challenged to develop skills in such areas as:
• Security Architecture & Design
• Applied Cryptography and Data Protection
• Cyber Forensics
• Cybersecurity Governance and Compliance
• Ethical Hacking
• Cloud, wireless, and mobile security
Graduates can be prepared to manage complex IT projects, design secure computer systems using the most current information technologies, and develop innovative hardware and software system architectures.
ECPI University’s curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for advanced cybersecurity certification examinations such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Systems Administration and Network Security (SANS), and Chief Information Security Officer (C:CISO). Upon graduation, they can pursue an array of career tracks including:
• Cyber Security Analyst
• Penetration Tester
• Data Center or Network Security Administrator
• Information Systems Security Engineer
• Risk Assessment and Vulnerability Analysis Manager
