American actress, singer, dancer and recording artist, Zendaya, is celebrating her 19th birthday today by fundraising on CrowdRise to help AIDS orphans in South Africa who receive support from iKAGENG, a local community-based charity. For the next two weeks, fans can visit http://www.crowdrise.com/zendaya to donate to this important cause.
On a recent trip to South Africa with UNAIDS, Zendaya visited families that have been affected by HIV/AIDs. She was particularly inspired by a family of three brothers who had lost both their parents to the disease within the span of two years. They are currently live in a settlement, which Zendaya visited, and saw the poor conditions first-hand.
In an exclusive video on her CrowdRise page, Zendaya says, “I don’t think anybody, especially not children, should have to live that way.“ She is asking her fans to contribute to help move the brothers into a safe home. Every $10 donation is an entry to win a private video chat with Zendaya herself.
“My trip to South Africa changed my life,” said the former Disney star, “It’s a huge gift for me to be able to give to others so I wanted to make my 19th birthday extra special by supporting this family and other families like them. Anything you can do is 100% appreciated so please visit my CrowdRise page to help.”
