The three-day event kicks-off on September 12, at 10 a.m., with the Erving Youth Basketball Clinic at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Center in partnership with the Salvation Army of Greater Philadelphia. Through the clinic, which Erving will host with daughter Jazmin, Founder and Executive Director of GRAB A BALL & PLAY Foundation, the Erving’s are looking to give back to the Philly community and provide young people with #HopeWithABasketball and one-on-one coaching from Mr. Erving himself.

“I am honored to partner with the Salvation Army of Greater Philadelphia, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Rittenhouse to host the Julius Erving Golf Classic,” said Julius Erving. “Through this event, and the Erving Youth Basketball Clinic, I am able to give back to a city that has given me so much.”

The JEGC is partnering with the Philadelphia 76ers, who will participate in the weekend events, be the presenting sponsor of the Erving Dinner & Prize Ceremony, and provide special Erving memorabilia and images for use on course for the Julius Erving museum, where each hole will journey signature moments in time throughout Ervings’ iconic career in basketball.

“Julius is an integral and iconic part of the Sixers family and it goes without saying that we are proud to support him in any way we can,” said Sixers Chief Executive Officer Scott O’Neil. “The goals of the Julius Erving Golf Classic align very closely with ours and we look forward to joining him in his efforts to continually give back to the youth of Philadelphia.”

Additionally, the JEGC has partnered with Black Clover Enterprises on a #DRJRedHat campaign that will provide red hats to all youth and event participants, representing Erving’s iconic career, his ties to Philadelphia and his desire to give back and inspire youth alongside the Salvation Army.

“I feel that the concept of the red hat and Black Clover’s Live Lucky aligns very well with the JEGC and its message of hope,” said Brett Wayment with Black Clover Enterprises. “In this case, every #DRJRedHat is designed to inspire and remember the accomplishments of Mr. Erving while inviting its owner to enjoy life, to embrace every day, to Live Lucky! We are excited and honored to be joined with such a great ambassador of basketball, but more importantly a great ambassador of life.”
