This includes trade schools, technical schools, colleges or universities. The scholarship application requires the applicant to answer the following essay question: What role (if any) should technology play in the education of yourself, your siblings, or in the future, your own children?

Donna Hislop, Black Mountain’s Business Manager and head of the scholarship award committee, commented, “We received many creative and insightful responses this year. Both McKayla’s and Jesse’s essays really stood out among the 239 applications we received.” McKayla’s expressed her view that technology was important to students in education because “…it not only aids student productivity, efficiency and ability to learn, it opens the world to them, broadening their point of view as well as their sphere of influence…” Jesse’s essay discussed how he felt technology had “…changed education by changing the fundamental way in which we solve problems.”
