Saratoga Data Systems, Inc. has been issued another in a series of patents for its line of data transmission enhancement products. Patent 9,118,478, “Fault-Tolerant Data Transmission System for Networks with Non-Full-Duplex or Asymmetric Transport” extends Saratoga’s Flume™ technology into new areas of network technology. This patent covers new techniques for reliably moving data over networks challenged with high latency, high packet loss, intermittency and/or high packet corruption. And it specifically addresses situations where there are asymmetric or half-duplex transport components.
When compared to traditional TCP/IP based protocols such as FTP and SFTP, Flume™ technology moves large volumes of data up to 100 times faster. Equally, and sometimes even more importantly, Flume™ transfers huge data files or short data bursts with greater reliability than other WAN accelerators: data guaranteed 100% correct with no lost transmissions. Flume™ is a software-only technology which uses existing computer hardware and TCP/IP networks.
Greg Fairbank, CEO and President of Saratoga Data noted that “This patent is key to Flume’s ability to transmit data over some of the world’s most challenged IP connections, enabling a host of uses such as the Internet of Things. It is further evidence of Saratoga Data’s lead in the market of challenged internet transport.”
The Saratoga Optimization Platform provides organizations with the ability to manage data size, increase performance of data processing applications, and to move the data to its destination far faster and more reliably than previously thought possible.
Saratoga Data is a privately held company founded by a group of data processing, network, and semiconductor tool industry veterans who have been collectively responsible for the development and sales of industry standard software applications used around the world. Saratoga has been developing advanced network technology now for more than a decade and has amassed a substantial portfolio of issued patents and further patent pending technologies.
