BOMI International Partners with BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program® for Building Operation Training
Annapolis, MD (PRWEB) September 03, 2015 -- BOMI International has partnered with Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) in an effort to encourage energy savings through recognized industry education. Upon successful completion of approved BOMI International courses included in BGE’s Building Operation Training, eligible employees will receive a financial incentive that covers 80 percent of enrollment costs or up to a maximum of $1,000 per certification, whichever is less. Individuals who have two or more years of experience in building operations and support facilities within the BGE service territory — building engineers, stationary engineers, maintenance supervisors, maintenance workers, facility coordinators, HVAC technicians, electricians, operations supervisors and technicians, and others in the field of facility operations and maintenance — are encouraged to apply today.
The program mirrors a similar effort between BOMI International and Pepco that has provided more than 12,000 hours of training to building operators in the Washington, DC metro area. Pepco reports energy savings of 34,000,000 kWh because of this effort. “Commercial buildings consume 70% of the electricity in the U.S. Training is often an overlooked area when it comes to making sure buildings are using energy efficiently,” remarked Jeffrey A. Horn, BOMI International’s President and CEO. “We are excited to work with BGE to bring these courses to their commercial customers – and to play a critical role in reducing energy usage in Maryland.”
Approved BOMI International courses for the BGE program focus on enhancing building performance through the reduction and conservation of energy use. Additionally, each course listed below has been approved by Green Business Certification, Inc. (GBCI) and qualify for the LEED® Credential Maintenance Program (CMP):
- Air Handling, Water Treatment, and Plumbing Systems
- Electrical Systems and Illumination
- Energy Management and Controls
- High-Performance Sustainable Building Principles
- High-Performance Sustainable Building Practices
- High-Performance Sustainable Building Investments (Available Early 2016)
- Refrigeration Systems and Accessories
- The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part I
- The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part II
With optimizing energy efficiency as the primary objective for this partnership, BOMI International and BGE hope to see many learners take advantage of the incentive program.
