Children and Families excited to receive their backpacks!

“We are thrilled to have been be able to work with socially responsible organization who serve a similar mission. Amazing things happen when businesses & nonprofits work together to strengthen the community,” relates CCRC’s President & CEO Michael Olenick

The Honest Company, in collaboration with STATE Bags, sponsored the Kindergarten Readiness Event. The event took place in the city of Arleta at CCRC’s Osborne Head Start Preschool. Over 750 children and parents attended the event and received essential tools and products to start the school year safely and in style!

Through their generosity, CCRC’s Head Start families received high quality backpacks packed with safe and responsible Honest products and much needed school supplies from Yoobi. Over 500 backpacks were distributed during the event with Jessica Alba, founder of the Honest Company, making an appearance to wish CCRC’s children and families the best of luck for the upcoming school year. Alba personally handed out backpacks, organic fruits and vegetables, and Honest Products. Families also enjoyed interactive and developmentally appropriate game and activities and each child received an age appropriate book as part of CCRC’s literacy campaign, What A Difference A BOOK Makes.

Over 50 volunteers and staff from Honest, STATE, Yoobi and CCRC worked together to host this unforgettable and rewarding event. The children were overjoyed and parents expressed their gratitude, “I’m so thankful to everyone involved and for all the items we received today. Every year, I worry about back to school shopping because I can’t afford to buy my kids what they need. This year I feel confident in sending my kids to school, knowing they have these amazing backpacks and schools supplies.”
