Farm Credit Sponsors Young MacDonald’s Farm at the State Fair of Virginia
Mechanicsville, Virginia (PRWEB) September 09, 2015 -- Farm Credit is proud to announce that it is the presenting sponsor of Young MacDonald’s Farm at the State Fair of Virginia at The Meadow, Sept. 25 through Oct. 4.
Located in the Harvest Landing area of the State Fair, Young MacDonald’s Farm is a perennial favorite of fairgoers. Visitors can see a sow and its litter, various breeds of cows and calves, sheep, goats, chickens and even alpacas. They can try their hand at milking a cow, enjoy Goat Mountain, see chicks hatch daily, and watch ducks play on a water slide. Some might even catch a live animal birth.
Farm Credit is also a sponsor of the Livestock Pavilion, where farmers – and future farmers – exhibit their award-winning cows, sheep, and pigs. In addition, Farm Credit’s Knowledge Center helps to put on the unique and creative Round Bale Competition, in which 4H and FFA students decorate hay bales to resemble farm animals and equipment.
For nearly 100 years, Farm Credit has provided support to agriculture and rural communities. They operate as a cooperative owned by their customers to provide financing for land, homes, and farms.
“The State Fair of Virginia is a special tradition for our residents and a chance to showcase agriculture in a fun and family-friendly atmosphere,” said Greg Farmer, president and CEO of Colonial Farm Credit. “We are pleased to partner with the State Fair to highlight the great work of farmers and especially the next generation of folks who will help feed the world.”
