The 31st annual Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, packing the mountain town of Jackson, Wyo., with artists, culture mavens, design enthusiasts and foodies. The 12-day festival, which runs through Sept. 20, mixes visual, contemporary, culinary, Western, landscape, home design, wildlife and Native American arts, and includes more than 50 family-friendly activities – many of them free.
Highlights of the 2015 festival include the Palates & Palettes gallery walk on Friday, Sept. 11; the Taste of the Tetons on Sunday, Sept. 13, for delicious samples of creations by the valley’s top chefs; the Showcase of Homes tours of exclusive private residences with the opportunity to talk shop with Jackson’s highly skilled architects and designers Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19; and the crowd-favorite QuickDraw in Town Square on Saturday, Sept. 19, with artists at work in the open air, followed by a live auction of their creations.
The Western Design Conference (WDC), a signature event of the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival, returns to Jackson, Sept. 10 - 13, 2015, bringing in more than 130 talented artists working in varying mediums to showcase and sell their one-of-a-kind, museum-quality functional artwork. New this year is a Designer Show House, featuring six professionally designed rooms constructed within the exhibit, along with the return of the popular Retail Row.
The four-day WDC celebration of one-of-a-kind Western furniture, fashion and accessories opens Thursday, Sept. 10 with a much anticipated Opening Preview Party at the Snow King Center that includes a Ward + Blake Architects-sponsored runway fashion show featuring Jackson Hole locals as models. The Western Design Conference Exhibit + Sale continues at Snow King, Sept. 11-13.
Festivalgoers can also meet this year’s returning featured artist, Billy Schenck, at the Altamira Gallery on Sept. 16. Schenck was the featured artist for the very first Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival in 1985, and his painting “13 Minutes From Eternity” is the official artwork for this year's event poster. The festival also has partnered with local winemakers Jackson Hole Winery to present the commemorative wines for the 2015 event, a Syrah and a Chardonnay with custom labels displaying Schenck’s featured artwork. Bottles of the signature wines are available at several Jackson stores and online at Bottled Wyoming.
