Season 3 of National Television Series “START UP” Profiles More Creative Entrepreneurs from the Midwest and Down the East Coast
DETROIT (PRWEB) September 09, 2015 -- START UP Season 3, a television docuseries highlighting the struggles and victories of entrepreneurs in 17 cities across the United States, returns for its 3rd season (check local listings). Sponsored by Chrysler Brand, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, North American Bancard (Pay Anywhere) and A Bakers Tale, START UP provides an up close and personal look into today’s small business success stories. In each episode, creator and host Gary Bredow, director Raisa Churina and producer Jenny Feterovich continue to reveal the experiences of individuals who have taken ideas and established successful businesses in an uncertain economy.
The series is distributed nationally to more than 350 PBS stations, Create TV Network and World Channel nationwide and is shown in over 96% of the country.
“The entrepreneurs that we feature on the show are committed to their community, they have overcome serious hardships to make their dream happen, and we share their valuable experiences each week on the show," says Bredow. “They embody the spirit of the American entrepreneur and we hope that they will inspire viewers who dream of taking a leap to start their own business.”
Each episode of START UP features a well-known business leader who provides insight into the triumphs and pitfalls of entrepreneurship. Among those featured in Season One and Two include Daymond John, CEO of FUBU and Shark Branding and TV Personality on ABC Shark Tank, Slava Rubin, Founder and CEO of Indiegogo, Alexa von Tobel, Founder and CEO of LearnVest, and Angie Hicks, Creator of Angie's List.
Among the entrepreneurs featured in the series are second career husband-and-wife team Claudia and Ken Raessler, owners of Saco River Dye House in Biddeford, Maine– an organically certified yarn dying operation that has been offering contract-dyeing services for a range of yarn and textile customers.
"Ken and I raised our children, and had full careers as a physician and lawyer, so some folks may have expected us to slow down, but we saw an opportunity to start something new and exciting that would create jobs in our community. I believe that it's important to have a strong level of social responsibility," said Claudia Raessler, Co-Founder of Saco River Dye House. "We went all in financially and then some, so yes, we definitely have skin in the game. But I'm extremely happy, and we would do it all over again" Raessler added.
In its third season, START UP features small business owners in Detroit, MI, Hamtramck, MI, Ferndale, MI, Buffalo, NY, S. Burlington, VT, Waitsfield, VT, Montpelier, VT, Portland, Maine, Biddeford, ME, York, ME, Concord, NH, Amherst, NH, Boston, MA, Cohasset, MA, S. Kingstown, RI, Providence, RI, New Haven, CT, Wallingford, CT.
“It’s estimated that 85 percent of new businesses fail,” says Bredow. “Through the mid-west and down the east coast, we are seeing average Americans doing extraordinary things, and we're very excited to share their stories."
