150 Seat Virtual Reality Lab Unveiled at Aston University in the United Kingdom
SUNNYVALE, CA (PRWEB) September 11, 2015 -- Real world virtual reality is transforming learning around the globe and zSpace, Inc.®, a leading-edge technology provider, is leading the way. Already demonstrating success in more than 250 schools and universities across the United States, zSpace is now expanding into schools and universities in over a dozen other countries.
In the United Kingdom, Aston University, is building a 150 seat zSpace lab, complete with virtual holographic displays on each student’s desktop capable of projecting 3D objects. In lectures and project work, students can “lift” virtual objects from the screen and manipulate these objects as if they real using the zSpace VR stylus. Students’ project work can then be transferred to a nearby CAVE space to be shared and explored in full size.
Aston University worked with Virtalis, a world-leading virtual reality and advanced visualization company, that markets zSpace products as a value-added reseller in several territories, and distributes Virtalis’ Visionary Render software available on the zSpace platform through its worldwide sales channels.
Students at the Singapore American School, an independent, non-profit day school that offers an American-based curriculum, were the first in the country to experiment with zSpace virtual reality technology. Both elementary and middle school students have had the opportunity to use zSpace in the library, while the high school was the first to introduce the technology as part of its science curriculum, specifically in the physical, life, earth, and environmental sciences.
Students have explored the use of zSpace to study animal dissection, aquatic habitats, and chemical structures without time-consuming and challenging lab setups, and to view interactions among objects in physics and chemistry classes. Lessons supported by zSpace Scope and Sequence match grade-level educational requirements, such as common core and next-generation science standards. Teachers can draw from over 250 activities created by the zSpace team of educators.
