Peugeot 308 GTi and 308 Racing Cup to Premiere at Frankfurt Motor Show 2015
(PRWEB UK) 17 September 2015 -- Peugeot will showcase the New 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport and the 308 Racing Cup at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Peugeot conducted its first unveiling of the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport earlier this year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. However, one sport version of the 308 was not enough, so Peugeot Sport engineers have now developed a racing version of the car.
The 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport is the ultimate sporty, compact car, designed for those seeking a thrill from their driving experience on the road. The car has been built with superb mechanical precision and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.0 seconds. The GTi’s exterior styling is bold; with a body that sits 11mm lower to the ground than its counterparts. With twin exhaust, 19 inch aluminium wheels and 380mm front brake discs pinched by red callipers, this car embodies Peugeot Sport.
Made specifically for the racetrack, the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup is powered by the same 1.6-litre THP engine as the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport but it has been specifically sport-tuned by Peugeot’s engine specialists, Vélizy. To adapt the car for the racetrack, the engineers have implemented specific parts such as six-piston brake-callipers and steering-wheel-mounted paddle-shifters. The weight of the 308 Racing Cup has also been restricted to between 1,000kg and 1,050kg to improve performance. The Racing Cup has been given a more athletic look – it’s wider in width and has front and rear bumpers which enhance the car’s aerodynamic efficiency.
The 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport and 308 Racing Cup will be displayed alongside Peugeot’s production range of cars including 108, New 208, 308 and 508, as well as MPVs 2008 Crossover, 3008 Crossover, 5008, Partner Tepee and Expert Tepee. There are also plans to reveal a dynamic and all-electric concept vehicle, the FRACTAL, at the show too.
The Frankfurt Motor Show, known as the International Automobile Exhibition (IAA), is held biennially. In its 66th year the show opens its doors to the general public on Thursday 17th September 2015. The Frankfurt Motor Show currently plays host to around 900,000 attendees visiting the show every year.
