Smith Douglas Homes Poises Itself for Growth by Entering New Markets
Woodstock, GA (PRWEB) September 10, 2015 -- Smith Douglas Homes, having established itself as the number one private builder in Atlanta, is now preparing to expand its footprint to cover crucial markets in the southeast.
With their proven, schedule-driven operating system, they have leveraged their predictability to reduce costs in an effort to pass those savings on to buyers. It was that process that built a name for Smith Douglas in the Atlanta market and made them the value-driven home builder that they are today.
Building on the success of the Atlanta Division led by Jim Bellinger, founder Tom Bradbury has decided to expand the company’s operations to include both Raleigh, North Carolina and Birmingham, Alabama. To foster this expansion, he has added to his management team two key roles: Charles Schetter, Chief Executive Officer and Greg Bennett, Chief Operating Officer.
Charles Schetter grew up in his family home building business and earned his B.A. at Dartmouth College, followed by his M.B.A. at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business. He held a 27-year career as a senior partner at McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm that serves leading businesses, governments, non governmental organizations and not-for-profits.
He then joined KB Home with the responsibility of business development where he led the acquisition of a variety of private builders and helped launch additional divisions while building a lot inventory in southern California. Subsequently, for a large pension fund, he led the entitlement and development of seven master-planned communities across the country. Most recently, Charles was active in providing institutional capital to leading private and public builders around the country.
Greg Bennett has 30 years of experience in the home building industry. Sixteen of those years were with Colony Homes, where he delivered 1,300 homes a year in Atlanta as Division President and oversaw, as part of the leadership team, the delivery of 400 homes a year each in Raleigh and Charlotte, making Colony Homes one of the five largest home builders in these major markets. As a result, Greg brings heavy operational experience to Smith Douglas. Prior to joining the team, he launched and operated a 150 unit home building company in the Northwest Atlanta market.
"We’re excited about the opportunities in front of us,” says Tom Bradbury, owner of Smith Douglas Homes. “We’ve been successful in the Atlanta market and are proud of everything we have accomplished so far. We have our work cut out for us, but feel that we have the right people and the right attitude to succeed in these new markets.”
