Aegis Living to Provide Almost 700 New Senior Housing Units
REDMOND, WA (PRWEB) September 14, 2015 -- Aegis Living, a leader in the assisted-living industry, announces the development of almost 700 new senior housing units in the Greater Seattle area in the next three years beginning with the September 19th Grand Opening of Aegis of Queen Anne on Galer in Seattle. That community will bring more than 60 new jobs and provide assisted living, transitional care and memory care. The Grand Opening for Aegis of Queen Anne on Galer features a guest appearance by actress Barbara Eden, star of the 60’s NBC comedy “I Dream of Jeannie.”
The new 58-unit development responds to a growing senior housing need on Queen Anne. Close to 10,000 seniors aged 75+ live within three miles, almost 20,000 live within five miles. Sitting atop Queen Anne Hill, Aegis of Queen Anne on Galer is inspired by the old world charm of this landmark Seattle neighborhood. The most innovative feature of the community transports our residents to the heart of the Public Market, designed by local design and fabrication firm Dillon Works. It includes many features that recreate the iconic Seattle landmark. This Public Market area will serve as an activity center for the many Life Enrichment programs such as Chair Tai Chi, TED Talks and music therapy. The community will also feature a state-of-the-art movie theater, The Sports Den, a mercantile shop, a beauty salon and barbershop.
Aegis of Queen Anne on Galer - Grand Opening - Sat, Sept. 19th 1:00 pm music, food, tours, prizes. Public Invited.
In addition to Galer, Aegis Living is developing seven other communities in the Seattle/Bellevue area including Aegis Gardens (Newcastle) (110 units), Aegis of West Seattle (80 units), Aegis of Bellevue at Overlake (72 units), Aegis of Queen Anne at Rogers Park (129 units), Aegis at Ravenna (80 units), Aegis of Mercer Island (89 units) and Aegis at Laurelhurst (73 units), a total of nearly 700 units, creating more than 700 jobs. Aegis Living CEO and Founder Dwayne Clark says, “We’re excited to bring innovative programs to the next generation of Seattle’s senior housing market.”
This wave of new development is in response to growing demand and what’s called the “Silver Tsunami.” According to the U.S. Department of Health and Social Services, persons 65 and older represented 12.9% of the population. By 2030, there will be 72.1 million older persons in this country, more than twice their number in 2000. Nielsen reports, 19,280 local seniors aged over 75 live within five miles of Aegis of Queen Anne on Galer. 9,825 live within a three mile radius.
All these Aegis Living communities will feature many of those Life Enrichment programs, a community concierge and fresh, locally-grown, nutritious cuisine prepared by four-star executive chefs.
