Greenberg Traurig Adds Victoria Reggie Kennedy
WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) September 10, 2015 -- Victoria Reggie Kennedy has joined the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Kennedy, who previously was with Greenberg Traurig from 1995 to 1997, will bring her 17 years of private sector practice in corporate and finance law to provide expert strategic counsel to the firm’s diverse clientele. As senior counsel, she will be based in Greenberg Traurig’s Washington, D.C. and Boston offices.
“We warmly welcome Vicki Kennedy back to the Greenberg Traurig family. Vicki is a role model for the values we stand for, and her stellar reputation and experience will build on what our over 1,800 attorneys can offer clients in Washington, D.C., Boston, and around the globe. She is known for her ability to bring people together across the aisle and from all business sectors, nonprofits, and in higher education,” said Richard A. Rosenbaum, chief executive officer at Greenberg Traurig.
Rosenbaum added, “Vicki will join fellow senior industry luminaries at the firm who serve as strategic counsel to clients across markets and industries. When she called and told me that we were the only law firm at which she wanted to practice law, I knew we had done something right as we built Greenberg Traurig over these decades--she could have gone anywhere."
At Greenberg Traurig, Kennedy will devise strategies to resolve complex legal problems, particularly those stemming from regulatory, communications, or governance concerns, and help clients develop and execute strategies to expand their impact in the marketplace. Kennedy will work closely with Marvin Rosen, previously a name shareholder at the firm, to strategically counsel clients in virtually every sector of business.
“I am honored to return to Greenberg Traurig,” said Kennedy. “Greenberg Traurig has grown tremendously over the years and consistently produces impressive and valuable work for its clients. This is the only firm I considered when I decided to return to private practice and I look forward to contributing to its talented team.”
Previously, Kennedy was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of a large, multi-city, Chicago-based law firm. The focus of her legal practice was the representation of commercial banks and saving and loans for which she devised innovative strategies for recapitalization and reorganization and assured regulatory compliance. She began her legal career as a law clerk for Judge Robert Sprecher in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago.
Kennedy is the president of the board and co-founder of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate in Boston, a non-partisan organization created to educate the public about the unique role of the United States Senate in our democracy. She is a trustee of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts where she chairs its Education Committee and is a member of the Board of Overseers of the Museum of the Fine Arts Boston, and a member of the board of directors of the National Leadership Roundtable on Church Management.
Kennedy is also a member of the Commission on Political Reform, a project of the Bi-Partisan Policy Center to investigate the causes and consequences of America’s partisan political divide and to advocate for specific reforms.
She has received numerous awards including Honorary Doctorates from Boston University, Northeastern University, Montclair State University, University of Massachusetts Boston, Lesley University, Emmanuel College, Western New England University, and Suffolk University Law School. She has been honored as a distinguished professor and mentor at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
Kennedy earned her J.D. from Tulane Law School, where she served as editor of the Tulane Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. She holds a B.A from Newcomb College, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Kennedy is admitted in the District of Columbia and Louisiana. She is not admitted in Massachusetts.
