Olea Networks Outfits City of Georgetown, TX Fire Department with Edge Connectivity and Computing
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) September 16, 2015 -- Today Olea Networks announced a successful installation of Olea CAR-100-E gateway-computers for the Fire Department of Georgetown, a suburb of Austin, TX. The devices provide wireless connectivity to in-vehicle devices including laptops, tablets, and Philips MRx wireless heart monitors as well as asset tracking and Cloud transmissions for different software applications.
With each Olea CAR-100-E, on-board GPS enables vehicle tracking from the station, allowing dispatchers to maintain visibility of assets in real-time. By connecting in-vehicle devices such as laptops and tablets, the Georgetown Fire Department can take advantage of Cloud-based software solutions such as EPCR (Electronic Patient Care Reporting). Each Olea CAR-100-E also transmits patient data from wireless defibrillator and heart monitors to hospitals and doctors, who can then provide telehealth services while preparing for patients in-route to the hospital.
“What really separated Olea Networks from other solutions was the ease of use for our first responders in the field,” said Jess Henderson, Business Analyst for the City of Georgetown. “If one of our devices like a laptop goes down while responding, we need to be able to instantly replace it.” He added, “Olea Networks was the only company that could provide a plug-and-play solution where a new device could instantly be replaced while guaranteeing that everything, including GPS, would still work.”
To support the Georgetown Fire Department, Olea Networks provided individual gateway-computers for ambulances, fire engines, ladder trucks, and a battalion chief vehicle, as well as reserve vehicles. The Georgetown Fire Department’s decision to invest in the Olea Networks connectivity and computing solution affords greater insight into daily operations, interplay between different devices in the field generating meaningful data, and real-time asset tracking to increase efficiency. The success of the deployment provides a powerful example of how Edge connectivity and processing enable next-generation applications and efficiency, and how Olea Networks can bring incredible value to municipal organizations around the world.
