Mashable, the leading media company for the digital generation, announced today that it has hired Nick Jaynes as its Transportation Tech Reporter to oversee content under its Transportation Channel, which launched this summer.
In this role, Jaynes will be responsible for original reporting and analysis on the evolving transportation industries, including but not limited to car, rail, nautical, plane and future technologies. He will cover transportation in an entirely new light, focusing on how digital technology is affecting innovation, sustainability and manufacturing in the space.
With an understanding of Detroit and Silicon Valley in equal measure, Jaynes will report not only on how the automotive business works now, but what it may look like in the future.

Prior to joining Mashable, Jaynes was Automotive Editor at Digital Trends, where he grew the website’s Cars section, produced high-quality video content and spearheaded new projects, including its inaugural Car of the Year Awards.
Previously, he founded DownForce Motoring, an automotive website focusing on long-form written reviews, videos and daily news content; and co-founded MANVIL Media, a media productions firm specializing in video, graphics and copywriting. Before that, Jaynes began his career as an Apprentice Mechanic at Bart’s Swedish Formula in Portland, OR.
Jaynes is a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication, where he studied electronic media and was voted “Best Documentary Filmmaker” in 2009 by faculty and staff. He joins Mashable today in Los Angeles and can be found on Twitter at @NickJaynes.
