As summer draws to its sleepy close, award-winning pastelist Linda Gross Brown reawakens the year with a timeless body of work that continues to captivate her admirers far beyond the reaches of the mere passing seasons. Her uniquely stylized talent speaks with an elegance that justifiably earns her the reputation of a contemporary artist with a graceful nod to a classical past.
Setting an energized pace early in the spring, both Footsteps #3 and Footsteps #7 were selected as finalists in the Landscape category of The Artist’s Magazine 32nd Annual Art Competition in July.
As Linda Gross Brown’s talent deepens and matures, the essence of her work becomes reflective of that growth and reincarnates itself with new life. With masterful manipulation of light and color into perfect harmony, Linda evokes both a visual and emotional response that bewitches the viewer. Speaking with the same eloquence she applies to her work, she describes her creative process:
“Somewhere there is a special place, a place of solitude and healing, peace and introspection. This is what I replicate for the viewer in my work. By harnessing the energies that exist within the four boundaries of the picture frame, and with careful manipulation of tone, color, value and subject, a landscape evolves with a special luminenscence that invites the viewer to wander along a predetermined pathway through the work.”
With her May submission of “Footsteps #14” into the Art Renewal Center’s 2014-2015 ARC Salon, her pastel painting was selected as a finalist in this prestigious event that receives thousands of submissions annually. The month of May brought further success when Linda’s “Footsteps #10” was chosen for entry into the 2015 Bowery Gallery National Competition in New York City.
Linda Gross Brown is well-prepared to assume whatever direction her creative talent is positioned to take her next. As the art community readies itself for another busy winter season everyone can rest assured that Linda will be a major contributor. With her imaginative spirit and accomplished drive to create one has but to wait in watch for her next stunning artistic achievement.
