I cannot think of a better individual to head our efforts for this important client at the 2016 Games

TorchStone Global, a consulting firm specializing in strategic security solutions for multinational corporations, high profile individuals, and high net worth families, is pleased to announce the addition of Lance Root as Olympics Program Manager. Mr. Root recently retired after a 26-year career as a Supervisory Special Agent in the Diplomatic Security Service of the U.S. Department of State. During his time with the State Department, Lance was assigned to posts around the world, to include Madrid, Kabul, Mexico City, Guatemala City, Sarajevo, Tel Aviv, and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. Based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Mr. Root will lead TorchStone’s newly won contract to support a TOP Sponsor (http://www.olympic.org/sponsors) at the 2016 Olympics.

“I have known Lance for many years, and I cannot think of a better individual to head our efforts for this important client at the 2016 Games,” said TorchStone President, Frank Rodman. “From 2004 to 2007, Lance served as the Regional Security Officer and Pan American Games Security Coordinator at the American Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro. He is trilingual in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Our client is very happy, and TorchStone is a stronger firm with his addition.”

“I am extremely excited to join the TorchStone team and to work on this incredible project,” said Mr. Root from Rio de Janeiro. “For the next eleven months we will be planning and preparing to guarantee that our client’s 500 guests and staff are safe, secure, and enjoy a wonderful Olympic experience.”

The security preparations for such a large and special event are obviously complicated and involved, especially in an international city like Rio de Janeiro. TorchStone Executive Vice President, David Niccolini, added, “It is so much more than simply executive protection, secure transportation, and event security. From intel to training to situational awareness to crisis and medical planning to logistics, Lance will be pulling together not only our plans, but also our extended team to ensure that this project goes off without a hitch. From that perspective, it is a great opportunity for TorchStone. It allows us to showcase our full capabilities as a premier global security firm. It is a very exciting time.”
