According to the new report from BCC Research, global revenue for medical membrane devices was valued at $25.2 billion in 2013 and $25.6 billion in 2014. The total market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.3% from 2015 through 2020; reach $26.3 billion by 2015 and $29.4 billion by 2020.

The global revenue for medical membrane devices is expected to reach $29.4 billion by 2020, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.3% from 2015 to 2020. The membrane diagnostic devices segment should continue to dominate the market, partly because of rising global incidence of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular, and cancer. New novel diagnosing and testing product launches will foster moderate growth, as well.

By region, the U.S. remains the largest segment due to new innovations and techniques that continue to improve treatment quality. In the European market, strong currency exchange rates and rising socioeconomic status are driving moderate growth. In developing countries with emerging economies, research and development activities will key expansion.

Membranes are either natural or synthetic barriers that allow small molecules to pass through the membrane while blocking larger ones. This report presents five categories of membrane devices: hemodialyzers, membrane oxygenators, Intravenous infusion (IV) filters, membrane diagnostic devices and blood microfilters/apheresis systems.

During the forecast period, the membrane diagnostic device segment should continue to dominate the global market.
