Lymphoma Research Foundation to Host 20th Anniversary Annual Gala
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 16, 2015 -- The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – will host its 20th Annual Gala on October 7, 2015, at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City. The celebration, A Legacy of Hope; A Commitment to Cure, will honor those who have contributed to the success of the patient education and research programs supported by the Foundation over the past two decades.
LRF’s Annual Gala brings together leaders from across the lymphoma community, including distinguished members of the LRF Scientific Advisory Board, Board of Directors, corporate partners, and leading clinicians and healthcare providers and volunteers, to raise essential funds to support the Foundation’s mission. Last year’s Annual Gala raised more than $1.1 million.
“The annual gala is an opportunity for attendees to support the LRF’s dual mission to eradicate lymphoma and serve those touched by this disease,” said Steven Prince, Chairman of the LRF Board of Directors. “The funds raised will enable the Foundation to continue to invest in innovative research and serve our patient community.”
The focus of the evening will be on three extraordinary individuals and one corporation who have made significant contributions to the Foundation and the greater lymphoma community. The prestigious Founder’s award, the Freundlich Leadership Award, will be presented to LRF Board Members Leigh Olson and Donna Reinbolt for their tireless dedication to the Foundation and its work. Gladys Cook will be the recipient of this year’s Distinguished Service Award, in gratitude for her steadfast efforts to support the LRF mission through extraordinary volunteerism. The Foundation will honor Gilead Sciences, Inc. with its Corporate Leadership Award for their commitment to innovative research and patient education programming for people with lymphoma and CLL.
“I could not think of a group of honorees more deserving of recognition during this milestone Gala,” said Meghan Gutierrez, LRF Chief Executive Officer. “Over the past 20 years, the lymphoma community has had so many wonderful advocates and benefactors who have established a true legacy of hope. Tonight, we are pleased to honor a select group who have not only had a tremendous impact on LRF and its success as an organization, but who will enable LRF to accelerate research developments at a pace that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the more than 80,000 people diagnosed with lymphoma each year.”
Sotheby’s C. Hugh Hildesley will serve as the gala’s auctioneer for both the live auction, as well as the Foundation’s signature Raise it for Research program. Last year’s attendees raised $400,000 in just minutes during this unique and exciting portion of the evening.
