DiabetesSisters’ Board of Directors Appoint Anna Norton as CEO

DiabetesSisters’ Board of Directors have appointed Anna Norton, MS, to serve as Chief Executive Officer of DiabetesSisters. This change, effective September 4, 2015, comes after Ms. Norton was initially named Interim Chief Executive Officer in May after Brandy Barnes, former CEO and Founder, stepped down from her position.

Anna’s roots are deeply embedded at DiabetesSisters, serving initially as a Committee Member for the Weekend for Women Conference Series in 2011. Since 2012, she has served as the Operations Manager, overseeing many important functions for the organization such as managing the Volunteer Corps, Weekend for Women Conference Series, and the PODS Meetup Program.  She has contributed to the growth of DiabetesSisters by growing the Conference Series, creating a fast-growing and popular Life Class series, launched a new website platform, and created the Leadership Institute to enrich and educate PODS Leaders. Prior to this position, Anna spent 13 years in the non-profit fundraising industry, focusing on development, annual gifts, event planning, volunteer management and community relations. She has worked for large university systems as well as metropolitan health care systems since 1999.

Anna earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and a Master of Science in Education at Florida International University. She currently resides near Chicago, Illinois, where she oversees DiabetesSisters via remote office.

Diana Karczmarczk, PhD, MPH, MCHES, DiabetesSisters’ Chair of the Board said, “The Board of Directors of DiabetesSisters is confident that Anna’s leadership will continue the path of success. She far exceeded our expectations in the Interim role and we are excited to support her as DiabetesSisteers enters its 9th year of operation.”
