“There are multiple urgent care options in Manhattan, yet much of the care is fragmented. People now have the benefit of neighborhood care that is fully connected to a full continuum of care,” says GoHealth Urgent Care COO, Gary Weatherford.

Two existing Urgent Care Manhattan locations (UCM), Upper West Side and Gramercy, are operating as North Shore-LIJ-GoHealth Urgent Care facilities and are now integrated with the North Shore-LIJ continuum of care. The expansion into Manhattan comes as a major component of North Shore-LIJ-GoHealth’s growth strategy and expansion throughout the New York metro area. As part of its joint venture partnership with the North Shore-LIJ Health System, GoHealth Urgent Care currently operates 14 locations in Queens, Long Island, Staten Island and Manhattan, with plans to continue its rapid expansion through 2017.

As the newest members of the North Shore-LIJ-GoHealth Urgent Care network, both locations will continue to provide the high quality service and clinical care established by UCM founders, Dr. Mark Melrose and Dr. Neal Shipley. Drs. Melrose and Shipley will remain with the centers and continue to provide the high quality patient care they are known for. “Being part of the North Shore-LIJ-GoHealth network enables us to expand our ability to provide the best urgent care experience for our patients,” says Dr. Melrose. “Not only are we able to provide the highest quality on-site care but we can now utilize the resources of partners to ensure patients in need of follow up care are receiving care from one of the best health systems.”

At the new GoHealth Urgent Care Centers, people in need of advanced care will now have access to the over 9,400 physicians and 400 outpatient physician practices that are part of the North Shore-LIJ network of care. Patients’ medical records and radiology reports will be seamlessly integrated into the health system’s medical records system to allow for faster, more comprehensive care. “There are multiple urgent care options in Manhattan, yet much of the care is fragmented. People now have the benefit of neighborhood care that is fully connected to a full continuum of care,” says GoHealth Urgent Care COO, Gary Weatherford.

The Gramercy and Upper West Side locations are open everyday from 8AM-8PM and provide immediate care for non-life threatening illnesses and injuries. These centers also offer onsite x-ray and lab diagnostic services. For added convenience, walk-ins are welcomed and patients can pre-register online. Dr. Melrose and Dr. Shipley will continue to provide patient care in addition to North Shore-LIJ-GoHealth providers at both locations.
