Today Mediaplanet announced distribution of its third publication of “Healthcare IT” – a cross-platform feature that will be distributed nationally in print and digital. With healthcare becoming increasingly connected, Mediaplanet is collaborating with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems (HIMSS), Karen DeSalvo, Dell, CHIME, Health Data Consortium and many more to educate readers on the benefits that healthcare IT can have for doctors and patients alike.

Our priority at Dell is to invest in intelligent application of technology to improve the health of people across the globe and reduce both the personal and financial burden of ill health

The print component of “Healthcare IT” will be distributed within this weekend’s edition of USA Today, in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, South Florida, Washington DC, Atlanta, and San Francisco, with a total circulation of approximately 450,000 copies and an estimated readership of 1.3 million. The digital component is being distributed nationally through social media and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. To explore the digital version of the campaign, click here.

National Coordinator for Health IT and acting Assistant Secretary for Health, U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services, Karen DeSalvo is featured on the cover of the print campaign. In an exclusive piece, she shares her insights into why the future of healthcare IT lies in interoperability. “I am optimistic that we are within reach of every American having access to their electronic health information when and where it matters most to them,” she states.

“Chronic diseases are among the main causes of death in the U.S., accounting for 86% of healthcare costs, and are increasing worldwide. Healthcare IT provides important tools for managing these conditions and improving outcomes. And technology tools are increasingly important in care delivery in Africa and other places that lack health infrastructure. Our priority at Dell is to invest in intelligent application of technology to improve the health of people across the globe and reduce both the personal and financial burden of ill health,” adds Nick van Terheyden, M.D., chief medical officer for Dell.

This publication was made possible with support from Dell Healthcare and Life Sciences, a leading provider of information driven healthcare.
