The FDA-approved IDEAL structured saline breast implant is now available at the Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The IDEAL IMPLANT is the first implant to provide women with the natural feel of silicone gel-filled implants combined with the safety of only saline inside.

“We are excited to be the first plastic surgery practice in Grand Rapids able to offer the IDEAL IMPLANT. I am delighted that women can now have a breast implant that provides a natural feel without silicone gel. The IDEAL IMPLANT has only saline inside for safety and peace of mind. Unlike silicone gel implants that have a high incidence of silent rupture that requires an MRI scan for detection, with the IDEAL IMPLANT, a woman can look in the mirror each day and have the confidence of knowing her implants are intact,” said Dr. Ringler.

The IDEAL IMPLANT has a simple, but unique, internal structure consisting of two saline-filled chambers and a series of implant shells of increasing size nested together. This internal structure is designed to control the movement of the saline filler, giving the implant a natural feel. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the IDEAL IMPLANT in 2014, based on results from a multi-center US clinical trial with 502 women that started in 2009, and now has over 5 years of follow-up data.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons breast augmentation is the most popular plastic surgery procedure with almost 300,000 procedures performed last year. However, according to a recent survey, 91% of women would prefer a new saline-filled implant that was designed to feel and perform like a silicone gel implant. "Now with the IDEAL IMPLANT I can finally offer women the best of both worlds" said Dr. Ringler.
