Lewis Roca Rothgerber Welcomes Nine New Associates
PHOENIX, Ariz. (PRWEB) September 18, 2015 -- Nine new associates have joined Lewis Roca Rothgerber LLP, one of the largest law firms in the western United States. Seven of the associates are members of the firm’s litigation practice group, with the business transactions practice group and intellectual property practice group each adding one associate.
Nicholas Bauman is an associate in the litigation practice group in Phoenix. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at the Arizona Supreme Court as a law clerk to the Hon. Robert M. Brutinel. During law school, he served as articles editor for the Arizona Law Review and as an extern to the Hon. Peter J. Eckerstrom at the Arizona Court of Appeals. His experience also includes an internship with U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl. Bauman holds a J.D., summa cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona.
Bruce Cassity practices in the firm’s intellectual property practice group in Las Vegas, primarily focusing on patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and trade dress. While in law school, he worked as a summer associate at Lewis Roca Rothgerber, a summer associate at Workman Nydegger, a law clerk for Kirton McConkie, and a legal extern at Symantec Corporation. He also was Law Review senior editor at the J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University, and a research assistant at the University of Bonn Institute for Public International Law. Cassity holds a J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, and a B.S. in Chemistry and Psychology from Duke University.
Conor Flanigan focuses on commercial litigation, commercial lending and bankruptcy representation as a member of the litigation practice group in Denver. His experience includes a working as summer clerk at Lewis Roca Rothgerber, a judicial intern for the Hon. Neil M. Gorsuch, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and a Justice Review Project intern for the Colorado Attorney General, Criminal Justice Section. He is a National Trial Competition Regional Champion and Regional Competition Best Advocate. Flanigan holds a J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School, and a B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, from University of Colorado.
Justin Graham is an associate in the firm’s business transactions practice group in Phoenix, with experience in a range of real estate related projects including commercial lending issues and municipal land use, and school construction and finance. He has experience as a summer Fellow at the Arizona Chamber Foundation, Arizona Chamber of Commerce, a summer associate at Lewis Roca Rothgerber and a legal research intern for Director of Planning and Development at the City of Phoenix, Planning and Development Department. Graham is fluent in Spanish and also served as executive managing editor for the Arizona State Law Journal. He holds a J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, a B.A. in Hispanic Studies with minors in International Studies and Latin American Studies from Boston College, an M.B.A., Beta Gamma Sigma, from the Arizona State University W.P. Carey School of Business.
John Michael Guevara joins the litigation practice group in Denver and has experience in state and federal trial and appellate litigation in class actions, First Amendment, intellectual property, government relations and religious liberty issues. He previously served as a summer associate at Lewis Roca Rothgerber, as a spring extern in the Boulder County Attorney’s Office, and as a judicial intern for the Hon. Monica M. Márquez in the Colorado Supreme Court. A Rothgerber Moot Court Competition Champion and Rothgerber Teaching Fellow, he also served as casenote and comment editor at the University of Colorado Law Review. Guevara holds a J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School, and a B.A. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.
Lindsey Herzik joins the litigation practice group in Phoenix. She served as an extern with the Hon. Gonzalo P. Curiel in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California, before joining Lewis Roca Rothgerber. While in law school she earned a CALI Award, Corporations, from the University of San Diego School of Law, served as an intern in the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program and was a research assistant at the University of San Diego School of Law. She holds a J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the University of San Diego School of Law, and a B.A. in Journalism from Loyola University of Chicago.
Lindsey Herzog is an associate in the litigation practice group in Phoenix. She has experience as a summer associate at Lewis Roca Rothgerber, and while in law school, received the CALI Award in Torts, Constitutional Law I, Criminal Law, and Legal Advocacy, the Dean’s Recruitment Award from the Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law at Arizona State University, and was a staff writer for the Arizona State Law Journal. She holds a J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law at Arizona State University, and a B.S., in Business Administration from the University of Colorado Boulder - Leeds School of Business.
Matthew Mellema is an associate in the litigation practice group in Colorado Springs and works with religious organizations with sensitivity to the distinctive characteristics regarding their unique legal status. His experience includes serving as a law clerk for Justice Allison Eid of the Colorado Supreme Court, a legal intern for the Colorado Office of the Attorney General, a research assistant and legal writer for Slate Magazine, and Blackstone legal intern at the Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence. Other distinctions include submissions editor for the Yale Law School, Yale Law & Policy Review, and CALI Award for Torts, Contracts, Legal Research and Writing, from the Pepperdine University School of Law. He holds a J.D. from Yale Law School, and a B.A., magna cum laude, in English from John Brown University.
Nicole Scott joins the firm’s litigation group as an associate in Reno, Nev. Scott has experience as a summer clerk at Lewis Roca Rothgerber and as a law clerk to Chief Justice James Hardesty of the Supreme Court of Nevada. She was editor-in-chief of the Nevada Law Journal, and received the William S. Boyd Outstanding Graduate Award from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Scott holds a J.D., summa cum laude, from the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and earned a B.S., with Distinction, in Business Administration, and an M.A. in Secondary Education from the University of Nevada-Reno, and an M.B.A., with Distinction, in Finance, from Hawaii Pacific University.
