Nigerian-German Singing Sensation Ayọ Takes Brooklyn "Back Home" with Intimate Performance Series
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 22, 2015 -- Nigerian-German singer, songwriter and actress Ayọ is set to perform in an exclusive four day intimate performance series, Back Home, from September 24th to September 27th at Ode to Babel in Brooklyn. The show, presented by Balance & Co., will provide an exciting, soulful experience filled with eclectic sounds and flavorful cuisine.
Back Home will be held at Brooklyn’s Ode to Babel, a hybrid “lifestyle” bar owned by twins Marva and Myriam Babel raised in Bed-Stuy. Ode to Babel is a special venue that serves espressos to cocktails and small bites while promoting the products from the area’s artisans including hard-to come-by magazines, locally crafted candles and art pieces. The series is produced by Carline Balan, once a lifestyle manager to music mogul Jay-Z now the founder and CEO of a lifestyle management & event production company, Balance & Co. Carline has worked with some of the most prominent entertainers, designers and brands such as Fashion For Release, Naomi Campbell, Roc Nation, Viacom, Steve Stoute, Catherine Malandrino, Mary J. Blige, Lebron James, Coca Cola, Translation LLC., Justin Bieber and now Ayọ.
Ayọ is no stranger to the music industry. The mother of two has seen major success, selling one and a half million records in forty countries. She performed with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, performing her song Down on My Knees. Her debut album Joyful, released under Interscope records in 2006 obtained Double-Platinum status in France, Platinum in Germany and Poland, Gold status in Switzerland, Italy and Greece. Since then, she’s released four albums, continues to create thought provoking lyrics and treats music as a source of power to heal people. In an interview with the Guardian, Denzel Washington mentioned Ayọ’s work “she has a song that she sings about her father and how she did not understand the sacrifices he made when she was growing up. With the song she apologises for the hard times she gave him. It doesn't specifically make me think of my father, although he did make sacrifices; it makes me think more of my daughters. But I just liked the song because I like bluesy darker songs. First you think it's about one thing and then it becomes about something else.”
This event won’t only serve food for thought. The music will be accompanied the first few nights with delicious meals available for purchase prepared by Celebrity Chef Samuel Branch. Chef Sam, self-proclaimed as the “Pattie King” has prepared lavish meals in New York city restaurants, his own establishment Mr. Cutters, the Hamptons and in the homes of celebrities.
