Three Police Officers Charged in Alleged LEAD Boot Camp Abuse Case
Santa Clarita, CA (PRWEB) September 29, 2015 -- The San Luis Obispo District Attorney’s office charged three police officers with multiple counts of misdemeanor child abuse on Friday. The alleged abuse happened during the LEAD Boot Camp held at Camp San Luis Obispo in May of 2015, according to San Luis Obispo Court (Case Numbers: 15M-08687-A, 15M-08687-B, and 15M-08687-C).
According to a news report by KSBY Channel 6 News (http://www.ksby.com/story/30067248/three-southern-california-police-officers-charged-with-child-abuse), two of the officers, Edgar Gomez and Carlos Gomez-Marquez, were from the South Gate Police Department. The third officer, Marissa Larios, is from the Huntington Park Police Department. The alleged abuse happened while the officers were acting as instructors at the boot camp.
According to court documents, Edgar Gomez has been charged with 17 total counts of corporal punishment or injury to a child and willful cruelty to a child; Carlos Gomez-Marquez has been charged with 16 total counts of corporal punishment or injury to a child, willful cruelty to a child, and battery; and Marissa E. Larios has been charged with 3 total counts of willful cruelty to a child and battery.
