Austin Companies Take Employee Wellness to the Next Level at the Fit Company Challenge
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) October 02, 2015 -- On September 12, 2015 over 400 participants from 30 companies took part in the Austin Fit Company Challenge, a corporate fitness event hosted by the Fit Company Institute providing area companies an opportunity to show the importance of living a fit and healthy lifestyle. Participants worked in teams of 3 to 4 towards completing a variety of fitness stations tailored to challenge the team member’s current fitness level and earn points towards their company’s overall score.
This was the 2nd year Luminex participated in the Austin Fit Company Challenge, and after finishing in 2nd place in 2014, they took the top company spot in this year’s Medium Company division. From Nancy Fairchild, Luminex Sr. Vice President, Human Resources “The Fit Company Challenge was an excellent opportunity to showcase our fiercest and fittest Luminex employees. At Luminex, our Company vision is “Breakthrough solutions to improve health and advance science”. Our products, benefits, employees and leadership foster a work environment which encourages excellent health and wellness for all. It was a great win!”
After finishing 3rd in the 2014 Austin Fit Company Challenge, Q1Media jumped two spots to first in this year’s challenge finishing at the top of the Small Company division. From Lene Temperton, VP of Sales at Q1Media, “After weeks of training and preparing for the day of the competition, we were nervous, excited and ready to give it our all. My favorite part was looking across the field and seeing all 25 Q1Media challengers scattered throughout each course cheering each other on! We’re excited to have won 1st for the Small Company division and we hope to hold that title year after year!”
On event day, with the help of over 50 volunteers assisting the contenders, participants challenged their strength, conditioning, power, agility, and ended with a test of endurance in order to show their companies and colleagues that they practice what they preach. Participants used their involvement to bring out company team members and family members to cheer them on and even run with them on the endurance course, which was the final course at the challenge.
The challenge was held at Zilker Park, just a few minutes from downtown Austin.
