Dyn Named a Top 100 Vendor Among Pure-Play Cloud Software Providers
Manchester, NH (PRWEB) September 23, 2015 -- Dyn, the worldwide leader in Internet Performance, has been identified by IDC as one of the top 100 pure-play cloud software providers in its recent SaaS and cloud software vendor share report, joining customers like Salesforce, Hubspot, and Acquia.
The report, titled Worldwide SaaS and Cloud Software 2015–2019 Forecast and 2014 Vendor Shares, describes IDC’s view of software-as-a-service (SaaS) and cloud software market performance in 2014, as well as a look ahead at estimated growth in the space through 2019. According to the report, companies classified as “pure-play” have “experienced high growth rates in recent years.”
"We’re naturally honored to be included on such a list,” said Kyle York, Dyn CMO. “Our success is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated employees, our loyal and innovative customers and the overall growth of the global Internet. As companies explore ways to ensure the best user experience possible for their customers, the need for our Internet Performance offerings will continue to thrive.”
In 2014, the report says, “pure-play vendors in the top 100 showed an increase in total cloud software revenue of 28.2%, while the rest of the top 100 cloud software vendors showed an increase in total software revenue of 23.8%. And of the 9 new vendors on this list — those that are among the top 100 cloud software vendors in 2014 but were not in 2013 — 6 are pure-plays.”
IDC identifies Dyn as a SaaS technology vendor in the System Infrastructure Software (SIS) SaaS submarket. SIS is the second-largest cloud market after applications. The SIS market had a 15.4% growth from 2013-2014, and shows a 13.6% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) forecasted from 2014-2019. Five-year growth rate for SIS is nearly four times the forecasted growth rate for the on-premise/non-cloud SIS market, which is only 5%.
IDC included Dyn among the top 100 pure-play cloud companies, separate from the list of top SaaS/cloud companies with other income sources as well. In order to be recognized in the pure-play category, companies had to show that at least 90% of their software-based revenue was derived from cloud services. IDC identified 46 of the top 100 SaaS/Cloud companies as pure-play vendors. Dyn’s revenue is entirely SaaS-based recurring revenue.
IDC recently published a buyer case study on Dyn’s relationship with HomeAway (IDC, HomeAway Grows with Dyn, Doc. #257246, July 2015), the world's leading online marketplace for the vacation rental industry and a longtime Dyn customer. The piece focused on HomeAway’s decision to use Dyn’s Managed DNS services rather than build in-house, and how HomeAway was able to grow with Dyn and expand the solutions they use.
