A fully redesigned web interface for the management of the TAP smart card system for the Los Angeles public transportation system was launched by Vertiba on August 25, 2015 and provides a vastly improved online experience for over half a million TAP card users.
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is one of the largest in the country and serves over 1,433 square miles with a population of 9.6 million. The TAP cards are stored-value smart cards that allow bus and rail patrons to physically tap their cards on the farebox to pay for travel across 24 area transit agencies. While TAP cards are a convenient way for patrons to pay for transportation, the lack of a mobile responsive website and a cumbersome online experience were big deterrents to expanding their use among the 1.35m daily users of public transportation in Los Angeles County.
Vertiba, the leading Gold-level Salesforce.com implementation partner for public sector projects, was retained to migrate the legacy system into Salesforce.com in order to reduce the number of systems used, improve data quality, and build an entirely new mobile responsive website in this 6-month project.
