TruGreen Announces Gary, Indiana as a TruNeighbor City; Revitalizes Gateway Park
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (PRWEB) September 23, 2015 -- TruGreen today joined the City of Gary, Indiana in celebrating the unveiling of several TruGreen-sponsored improvements to Gary’s Gateway Park as part of its TruNeighbor program.
TruNeighbor is a pilot program intended to support TruGreen’s commitment to help cities increase access to green spaces and beautify communities. Among the improvements unveiled today was the repair and turn-on of two fountains that were previously non-functional for nearly a decade. Located at 399 Broadway Street, Gateway Park is a high-profile community space situated amid Gary’s City Center.
“TruGreen believes the quality of outdoor spaces in a community directly impacts the health and quality of life of its residents,” said Bryan Seddon, general manager, Merrillville Branch, TruGreen. “So, we take a special pride in being a ‘TruNeighbor’ and investing in the cities where we live, work and play. We are especially grateful to Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson for her support of our program here in Gary.”
In addition to repairing Gateway Park’s fountains, TruGreen made several other improvements to the area including lawn care and providing funds for additional landscape improvements – all with the goal of restoring Gateway Park to its initial purpose and use as a beautiful recreational and entertainment space for all to enjoy. As a further commitment to the community, TruGreen will partner with the city to provide training for members of the Gary4Jobs Maintenance Landscape Training Program.
Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson said, “We are excited today and feel a sense of pride to be able to stand here and say, Gateway Park looks good. Today is about taking back one more part of our city and we are thankful to TruGreen for helping to make this possible. TruGreen has indeed proven to be a TruNeighbor to Gary. It is absolutely awesome to see the Gateway fountains flowing once again.”
To further foster the spirit of community participation, TruGreen and Mayor Freeman-Wilson introduced the TruNeighbor Community Champion Award, which was presented to Harlee Currie, president of the Froebel Community Council, for his dedication to championing community improvements.
TruGreen’s TruNeighbor program is currently being piloted in select cities across the country.
