Jason shoulders most of the responsibility for these efforts and deserves equal amounts of praise for balancing it all with such agility. I have every confidence that Jason will embrace this new position as he has everything in the past.

Manhattan Edit Workshop (MEWshop), the cutting-edge authorized digital training destination for post-production and content creators, is happy to announce an evolving leadership within the organization. Jason Banke, MEWShop’s VP of Operations, will now be taking over as the company’s President, continuing to expand MEWShop’s course offerings and personally overseeing all training and event initiatives.
“My relationship with MEW began eight years ago when I took the Six Week Intensive course. The class laid the foundation for my future success and continues to benefit the work I do to this day,” says Banke, who also owns and operates JB Visual Media. “Shortly after my class ended, I was asked to become a teaching assistant for the class, and I immediately wanted to become a part of MEWShop’s mission to educate aspiring filmmakers like myself. After a move to General Manager, and then three years as Vice President of Operations, I couldn’t be happier to have this opportunity to grow with the school and to keep MEWShop a leader in this field.”
During Banke’s role as VP of Operations, Manhattan Edit Workshop added a number of popular classes in Blackmagic’s Davinci Resolve as well as the Avid Assistant Editor and revamped DSLR Fundamentals class. He has helped solidify MEWShop’s reputation as the “top spot on the east coast to learn the editors craft” with annual events like “Sight Sound and Story” and has expanded the series to include sound design, VFX and cinematography events in the coming year. In his new role as President, Banke will oversee all MEWShop operations, strategic partnerships and continue to build on the stellar reputation he has helped build in the past eight years.
“Manhattan Edit Workshop has taken huge steps in elevating its training, events and relationships with the editing community,” said Josh Apter, Founder and CEO of, MEWShop. “Jason shoulders most of the responsibility for these efforts and deserves equal amounts of praise for balancing it all with such agility. I have every confidence that Jason will embrace this new position as he has everything in the past, and elevate MEWShop to even greater heights.”
